Navajo Nation Reservation UAP Wave 1994

During the summer and fall of 1994, Navajo Nation tribal police received an unusual volume of reports from reservation residents across Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah describing large triangular craft at low altitude. Tribal police officers independently observed craft on multiple occasions. Navajo Nation Council members, responding to constituent reports, raised the issue with Arizona and New Mexico state law enforcement. The FBI's Phoenix field office received copies of the tribal police reports. The encounters occurred across one of the most geographically expansive contiguous Native American territories in the United States, which also overlaps with portions of the Nevada and Utah test ranges. The cultural significance to the Navajo community — some of whose traditional oral histories include accounts of unusual sky phenomena — added a dimension to the encounters beyond their security significance.
