AT A GLANCE

Over 5,000 witnesses across New York's Hudson Valley reported a massive boomerang or V-shaped craft between 1982 and 1986. The object repeatedly hovered over densely populated suburban areas at low altitude with no sound. Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant security filed official reports on multiple occasions. FAA's Albany center received reports. Researchers J. Allen Hynek and Phil Imbrogno conducted ground-level investigation.

DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

From 1982 to 1986, New York's Hudson Valley — encompassing Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess Counties — became the site of the most geographically concentrated mass UAP wave in US history. Over 5,000 witnesses reported encounters with a massive V-shaped or boomerang-shaped craft bearing white lights at its leading edges. The object repeatedly appeared at night, hovering silently over highways, residential neighborhoods, and twice over Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant. Indian Point security personnel submitted formal incident reports on multiple occasions. FAA's Albany Air Route Traffic Control Center was contacted by multiple concerned pilots and airport observers. Police in multiple jurisdictions received calls during sightings but were unable to intercept the craft. The Hynek Center for UFO Studies dispatched investigators, and J. Allen Hynek himself visited the area before his death in 1986. The wave remains the most documented urban low-altitude multi-year UAP phenomenon in northeast US history.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS
  • 5,000+ witnesses — most concentrated US urban UAP wave
  • Indian Point Nuclear Plant security filed multiple reports
  • FAA Albany ARTCC contacted by multiple aviation observers
  • Hynek personally investigated before 1986 death
  • Hovering silently over populated suburban areas
  • 4-year sustained wave — not a single event

Argentine Air Force Buenos Aires Triangle 2002

Buenos Aires metropolitan area, Argentina

Argentine Air Force A-4AR interceptors tracked a large black triangle over the Buenos Aires metropolitan area. Ezeiza International Airport ATC tracked the contact on approach control radar. Argentina's Comisión de Investigación de Fenómenos Aeronáuticos Inexplicados (CEFAE) investigated and rated the case as unexplained. Argentine civil aviation regulatory body ANAC filed a formal report.

Nevada Triangle Overflight Pattern 1990

Nevada, Interstate 15 corridor

Beginning in late 1990, a sustained pattern of large triangular craft sightings along Nevada's Interstate 15 corridor and near the Nevada Test Site emerged. Rachel, Nevada — adjacent to Area 51 — became a hub for witnesses. Highway Patrol logs documented hundreds of sightings over months.

Phoenix Lights Full Investigation 1997

Phoenix, Arizona

The Phoenix Lights involved two distinct events: a massive V-formation over Nevada and Arizona observed by thousands, and stationary lights over Phoenix. The Arizona Governor initially mocked the event but years later admitted he personally witnessed the first formation and was left with no explanation.
