How does the UAP sighting matcher work?

The Match My Sighting tool asks four questions about what you observed: shape (orb, triangle, disc, ellipsoid, diamond, or unknown), behavior (hovering, rapid acceleration, 90-degree turns, transmedium, etc.), region (North America, Europe, Middle East, Asia, Pacific, or Space), and altitude (low, medium, high, very high, or space). It cross-references your answers against all 500 indexed declassified government UAP cases using a weighted scoring algorithm and returns a ranked list of matches with percentage match scores and links to the full official-source incident profile. No personal data is collected or stored.

What declassified UAP cases are in the matching database?

Accepted Answer

The matching database contains 500 indexed UAP incident files sourced from NARA Record Group 615, AARO case resolutions, NASA's UAP study, and FBI Vault records. Cases span 1947 to 2026 and include major incidents such as the USS Nimitz Tic Tac (2004), the Gimbal and GoFast Pentagon videos (2015), the Belgian UFO Wave (1990), Tehran UAP (1976), Malmstrom AFB (1967), Rendlesham Forest (1980), and Roswell (1947).

What do I do if none of the matches describe what I saw?

If no indexed case closely matches your sighting, you can submit it as a community sighting report on the Now Declassified sightings page. Your report will be moderated and cross-referenced against the archive, and unusual characteristics may match cases that the 4-question form doesn't surface. You can also report directly to AARO at aaro.mil if you are or were U.S. government or military personnel, or to the FAA for aviation incidents.
