DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

On September 3, 1968, a disc-shaped craft hovered at approximately 300 feet above the Connecticut River valley near White River Junction, Vermont, straddling the Vermont–New Hampshire state line. Vermont State Police from the Royalton barracks and New Hampshire State Police from the Claremont post both responded to civilian calls and independently observed the craft. An Army Reserve unit conducting a night training exercise in the area also observed and documented the event. The multi-state and multi-agency nature of the observations prompted the FBI's Boston field office to coordinate the investigation, as the cross-border nature made local jurisdiction ambiguous. The FBI agents interviewed the state police witnesses and compiled a consolidated classified report that was forwarded to Director Hoover under the standard disc sighting protocol. The Army Reserve unit's observations were separately classified under JANAP-146. The White River Junction case was one of the more thoroughly documented New England UAP incidents of the late 1960s, involving professional observers from three independent organizations.

Xenia Ohio Police Encounter 1973

Xenia, Greene County, Ohio

Multiple Xenia police officers and Greene County deputies observed a low disc over the city during the 1973 fall wave. Wright-Patterson AFB radar — just 10 miles away — confirmed the contact. The proximity to WPAFB gave the incident unusual significance in Blue Book successor program files.
