AT A GLANCE

One day after the Socorro Zamora encounter 30 miles away, multiple reports emerged of a landing at Holloman AFB itself. A documentary film crew working at Holloman for a classified project captured footage of disc-shaped craft performing maneuvers near the base. Portions of this footage were later alleged to have been used in a documentary. The classified nature of the Holloman events meant official records were not disclosed, but multiple former USAF personnel described the events in later interviews.

DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

On April 25, 1964 — the day after Lonnie Zamora's encounter in Socorro 30 miles to the north — reports emerged from Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico of an extraordinary event in which disc-shaped craft were observed landing at or near the base. Multiple former USAF personnel who were stationed at Holloman during this period have described, in interviews given after their service, observing disc-shaped craft performing controlled descents near the base. A documentary film crew from a production company was working at Holloman during this period under a classified contract, and former crew members have described filming anomalous aerial events near the base. Segments alleged to be from this footage have been used in television documentaries, though the chain of custody remains disputed. The proximity in time and location to the Zamora Socorro encounter — both within 30 miles and 24 hours of each other — has led researchers to suggest a connection between the events. Official USAF records concerning events at Holloman in this period have not been released despite FOIA requests, with exemptions claimed for materials still classified. The convergence of the Zamora encounter and the Holloman reports in a 24-hour window in the same region of New Mexico remains one of the most discussed geographic and temporal concentrations in US UAP history.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS
  • Occurred 24 hours and 30 miles from the Zamora Socorro encounter — geographic/temporal cluster
  • Multiple former USAF Holloman personnel described observations in post-service interviews
  • Documentary film crew at Holloman under classified contract may have captured footage
  • Official USAF records for this period still classified — FOIA exemptions claimed
  • Geographic cluster: Holloman, White Sands, Roswell all within 100-mile radius
  • Temporal cluster of multiple incidents suggests concentrated New Mexico UAP activity in April 1964

Edwards AFB — Test Pilots and Tower Report Disc

Edwards Air Force Base, California, USA

Edwards AFB control tower controllers and multiple F-104 Starfighter test pilots observed a metallic disc maneuvering over the base at high altitude. The object was tracked visually by tower personnel and by pilots in flight. Project Blue Book investigated and logged the case as 'unidentified.' The encounter is notable for occurring at the USAF's primary aircraft test facility with multiple trained military aviators as witnesses.

Ann Arbor / Dexter-Hillsdale Wave — USAF Swamp Gas Controversy

Dexter and Hillsdale, Michigan, USA

Over two nights in Michigan, approximately 100 witnesses including county sheriffs' deputies and a civil defense director observed disc-shaped craft at low altitude. USAF Project Blue Book sent Dr. J. Allen Hynek to investigate. Hynek's official explanation — 'swamp gas' — caused national ridicule and congressional outrage, directly triggering the Condon Committee investigation and Congressman Gerald Ford's formal congressional inquiry.

Rogue River — USAF Intelligence Officer Daylight Observation

Rogue River, Oregon, USA

A USAF Intelligence officer observed a disc-shaped object through binoculars in full daylight over the Rogue River, Oregon. The officer filed a formal Project Blue Book report. His training in aircraft identification and position as an intelligence officer made the report one of the most credentialed in the early Blue Book record. The object was estimated at 50 feet in diameter, highly reflective, and departed at extreme speed.
