Connecticut Electric Power System Anomaly 1987

On September 14, 1987, New Haven County experienced a power anomaly in the Northeast Utilities grid that prompted utility engineers to investigate. Multiple New Haven area police officers simultaneously reported a large triangular craft at low altitude performing slow maneuvers. Connecticut State Police also received reports. Northeast Utilities engineers who dispatched to investigate the grid anomaly independently observed the same triangular craft near one of the affected substations. The FAA received reports from commercial airline crews operating in the Connecticut airspace. The power grid anomaly was documented in Northeast Utilities' operational records. The case was notable for the independent convergence of police observers and utility engineers who did not know of each other's observations and yet described the same craft at the same location.
