AT A GLANCE

A LAN Chile Boeing 767 approaching Bariloche experienced navigation and electrical anomalies when a luminous object tracked the aircraft from the front. Simultaneously, Argentine Air Force base lights in Bariloche went dark. Bariloche ATC confirmed the encounter. Argentina's national Commission for Aerospace Phenomena studied the case and concluded it was authentic.

DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

On July 31, 1995, a LAN Chile Boeing 767 on approach to Bariloche Airport in the Argentine Andes was tracked by a large luminous object ahead of the aircraft. The crew reported navigation system anomalies and partial electrical failures while the object maintained position ahead of the aircraft. Simultaneously, the lights at the Argentine Air Force base in Bariloche went dark in a base-wide power outage, and personnel at the base observed the same luminous object from the ground. Bariloche ATC confirmed the radar contact and the coincident Air Force base power failure. The aircraft landed safely, and the crew filed detailed reports with Argentine civil aviation authorities. Argentina's Commission for the Study of Aerospace Phenomena (CODOVNI) investigated the case and concluded it was a genuine unexplained encounter. The simultaneous aircraft electronics failure and Air Force base power failure over the same geographic area at the same time was considered particularly significant. The Bariloche case is considered one of Argentina's most credible civil aviation UAP encounters.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS
  • Simultaneous aircraft electronics failure and Air Force base power outage
  • Navigation system anomalies while object tracked ahead of aircraft
  • Bariloche ATC radar confirmation
  • Argentine Air Force base personnel ground observation simultaneously
  • CODOVNI Argentina official investigation: genuine encounter
  • Most credible Argentine civil aviation UAP case

Loring AFB Nuclear Weapons Storage Overflight

Loring Air Force Base, Maine, USA

An unidentified helicopter-like object repeatedly overflew the nuclear weapons storage area at Loring AFB over several nights in October 1975. SAC headquarters issued an urgent classified message acknowledging the intrusions. Similar incidents occurred simultaneously at Wurtsmith, Malmstrom, Minot, and Canadian Forces Base Falconbridge — suggesting a coordinated operation against North American nuclear sites.

Pentagon UAP Task Force — Preliminary Assessment to Congress

Multiple locations — US airspace (classified specifics)

The US Office of the Director of National Intelligence released a landmark Preliminary Assessment on UAP to Congress in June 2021. The classified report covered 144 incidents reported by US government sources, primarily military aviators. Of 144 reports, 143 could not be explained. Eighteen incidents showed 'unusual movement patterns or flight characteristics' including hypersonic speeds without propulsion signatures, no visible propulsion, and transmedium travel.

AARO First Historical Record Report — Volume I to Congress

Pentagon, Washington D.C., USA (report origin)

The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) delivered Volume I of its Historical Record Report to Congress on March 8, 2024. The report reviewed US government UAP investigations from 1945 to 2023, interviewed 30 witnesses, reviewed hundreds of classified programs, and found no evidence of non-human intelligence or hidden US reverse-engineering programs. It confirmed a documented pattern of UAP reports near nuclear and advanced weapons facilities dating to 1945.
