DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

On August 17, 1995, Argentine Gendarmería Nacional (border security force) and civilian witnesses in Río Negro Province, Patagonia, observed a metallic disc performing repeated passes over the remote desert landscape for 40 minutes. The craft descended to 500 feet altitude, allowing excellent observation conditions in the clear Patagonian air. Multiple independent witnesses filed reports with local police and the Gendarmería. Argentina's Commission for the Investigation of Aerospatial Phenomena (CEFORA), the Argentine Air Force's official UAP investigation body, conducted a thorough investigation and documented the case in their classified archive. Argentina has maintained one of the most professional and systematic official UAP investigation programs in Latin America, producing detailed documentation of numerous encounters across Patagonia and the Andes region. The Río Negro case was considered particularly significant in the CEFORA archive because of the gendarmería officer witnesses and the extended duration of observation.
