AT A GLANCE

An unidentified helicopter-like object repeatedly overflew the nuclear weapons storage area at Loring AFB over several nights in October 1975. SAC headquarters issued an urgent classified message acknowledging the intrusions. Similar incidents occurred simultaneously at Wurtsmith, Malmstrom, Minot, and Canadian Forces Base Falconbridge — suggesting a coordinated operation against North American nuclear sites.

DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

On the night of October 27, 1975, an unidentified object described as helicopter-like but displaying unusual flight characteristics began overflying the nuclear weapons storage area at Loring Air Force Base in Maine. Security personnel tracked the object at approximately 150 feet altitude directly over weapons storage igloos. Base security was placed on alert and attempts to intercept the object were unsuccessful. Strategic Air Command headquarters issued a classified message formally acknowledging the overflight and requesting heightened security measures. The intrusions continued over several nights. Within the same week, similar unidentified aircraft intrusions were reported at Wurtsmith AFB (Michigan), Malmstrom AFB (Montana), Minot AFB (North Dakota), and Canadian Forces Base Falconbridge (Ontario). The pattern of simultaneous intrusions across multiple nuclear weapons facilities was described in declassified SAC documents as 'alarming.' No conventional explanation — foreign helicopter, drone, or aircraft — has been publicly established for these coordinated overflights. The incidents were formally documented in SAC records, which were declassified through FOIA requests in the 1990s.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS
  • Object overflew nuclear weapons storage igloos at 150 ft altitude
  • SAC headquarters issued classified urgent message acknowledging intrusions
  • Simultaneous intrusions at five North American nuclear facilities in same week
  • Security personnel unable to intercept or identify the object
  • No helicopter, drone, or aircraft explanation established in declassified records
  • SAC described the multi-site pattern as 'alarming' in official communications

RB-47 Electronic Countermeasures — Multi-Sensor UFO

Mississippi / Oklahoma / Texas Airspace, USA

A USAF RB-47 electronic countermeasures aircraft tracked an unknown object visually, on airborne radar, and via its electronic intelligence equipment simultaneously for over 90 minutes across multiple states. The object appeared, disappeared, and reappeared on three different sensor systems independently. Project Blue Book's Scientific Consultant, Dr. James McDonald, called it 'one of the most puzzling in the whole Blue Book collection.'

Lake Huron Shootdown — Fighter Jet Video

Lake Huron, Michigan, USA

On February 12, 2023, a U.S. Air Force F-16 shot down an unidentified object over Lake Huron, Michigan, on orders from the White House. The incident was part of a four-day period in which the U.S. military shot down four objects over North American airspace following the Chinese balloon shootdown. A classified video recorded by the fighter jet during the intercept is included in the May 2026 Pentagon archive release — the first time cockpit footage from this engagement has been made public.

Exeter New Hampshire Low-Level UAP Encounter

Exeter, New Hampshire, USA

Two Exeter police officers and a civilian witness observed a massive, low-flying object with a ring of red pulsing lights hovering at treetop level and silently maneuvering for approximately 45 minutes. Project Blue Book initially classified the case as 'insufficient data,' then revised to 'unidentified' after the officers filed formal objections.
