AT A GLANCE

Night security guard Yalcin Yalman filmed disc-shaped craft over the Marmara Sea coast on multiple nights between 2007 and 2009. The footage was submitted to TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey), which analyzed it and issued an official report confirming the objects were physical, could not be identified, and represented 'the most important UFO images ever filmed.' The case remains officially unexplained.

DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

Between May 2007 and September 2009, Yalcin Yalman, a night security guard at a residential compound in Kumburgaz on Turkey's Marmara Sea coast, filmed bright structured craft on multiple occasions using a Sony DCR-HC96E camcorder with a Hainan 200x optical zoom lens. The footage shows objects appearing to be disc or crescent-shaped craft with discernible structural features. On some frames, small humanoid-like silhouettes are visible within transparent domed sections. The footage was submitted to Sirius UFO Space Sciences Research Center in Turkey and subsequently sent to TUBITAK — The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey — for formal analysis. TUBITAK's space science department reviewed the footage over several months and issued an official report in 2009 concluding: (1) the filmed objects were physical and not the result of optical or camera artifacts; (2) the objects could not be identified as any known aircraft, drone, weather balloon, or astronomical phenomenon; (3) the imagery represented 'the most important UFO images ever filmed to date.' The Turkish Air Force conducted a parallel review. The footage was presented at the 2009 International UFO Congress and at the United Nations. TUBITAK's official conclusion — that the objects were real and unidentified — makes this one of very few cases where a national scientific authority has formally published an 'unidentified' verdict.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS
  • TUBITAK (Turkish national scientific authority) formally analyzed footage and confirmed objects were physical and unidentified
  • Official TUBITAK report declared the footage 'the most important UFO images ever filmed to date'
  • Filmed across multiple separate nights 2007–2009 — not a single isolated sighting
  • Turkish Air Force conducted parallel review of the footage
  • High-magnification footage shows apparent structural features and interior compartments
  • Presented at the United Nations — one of few UAP cases brought to UN attention with national scientific backing

Colares Brazil — Operation Prato Air Force Investigation

Colares Island, Pará, Brazil

An extended series of close-encounter UAP events affected the population of Colares Island in northern Brazil over several months. Objects fired concentrated beams of light at residents, causing documented physical injuries.
