AATIP / TTSA — Pentagon Program Disclosure

On December 16, 2017, the New York Times published a front-page story revealing the existence of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), a classified $22 million Pentagon UAP investigation program that ran 2007–2012. The story included the first officially released DoD UAP videos (Nimitz and Gimbal) and an interview with program director Luis Elizondo, who resigned citing internal obstruction. The disclosure marked the beginning of the modern era of US government UAP transparency.

USS Nimitz Atlantic Triangle Events 2017

During pre-deployment workup exercises off the Virginia Capes, USS Theodore Roosevelt airwing pilots encountered triangular UAP on multiple days. The encounters produced the Gimbal and GoFast FLIR videos subsequently authenticated by the Pentagon. East Coast NORAD tracked anomalous contacts in the operating area.

Cathay Pacific Near-Miss Anchorage 2017

Cathay Pacific and American Airlines crews simultaneously reported a fast-moving unidentified object at 35,000 feet over Alaska to Anchorage ATC. Anchorage ARTCC confirmed both simultaneous reports and issued a PIREP. The reports were included in the FAA Aviation Safety database.

Peru Air Force Nazca Lines UAP Patrol 2017

Peruvian Air Force surveillance aircraft on Nazca Lines heritage patrol reported a metallic disc at 500 feet performing a systematic grid survey of the Nazca geoglyphs. The proximity to the ancient Nazca Lines — frequently associated with UAP speculation in popular culture — gave the encounter unusual public interest. Peru's CONIDA space agency received the report.

AATIP — Pentagon UAP Program Revealed 2017

The December 2017 New York Times investigation revealing the existence of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), a classified Pentagon UAP investigation program that ran from 2007 to 2012 with $22 million in funding, was the most significant US government UAP disclosure since the 1969 closure of Project Blue Book. Former AATIP director Luis Elizondo resigned from the Pentagon and collaborated with To The Stars Academy to release the Tic Tac, Gimbal, and GoFast videos.
