On April 8, 2017, a Peruvian Air Force surveillance aircraft conducting routine patrols over the Nazca Lines UNESCO World Heritage Zone encountered a metallic disc performing a systematic grid-pattern survey of the famous ancient geoglyphs at 500 feet altitude. The crew observed the disc for 8 minutes as it moved methodically over the lines. The aircraft's crew filmed the encounter. Peru's CONIDA (National Commission for Aerospace Research and Development) space agency received the official report. The location over the Nazca Lines — themselves subject to extensive UAP-related speculation — gave the encounter public interest beyond the military significance. The Peruvian Air Force had a prior documented history of UAP encounters in Peruvian airspace, including Colonel Santa Maria's famous 1980 engagement, making the filing of this report through CONIDA consistent with established Peruvian practice.

Farmington New Mexico — Fleet of 500 Discs

Approximately 500 Farmington, New Mexico residents simultaneously observed a massive fleet of hundreds of disc-shaped objects flying in formation overhead for 30 minutes. Three local newspaper reporters independently witnessed the event and filed reports. The objects were documented at high altitude traveling at high speed in formation, with individual objects breaking formation and rejoining. Project Blue Book declined to investigate.

Edwards AFB control tower controllers and multiple F-104 Starfighter test pilots observed a metallic disc maneuvering over the base at high altitude. The object was tracked visually by tower personnel and by pilots in flight. Project Blue Book investigated and logged the case as 'unidentified.' The encounter is notable for occurring at the USAF's primary aircraft test facility with multiple trained military aviators as witnesses.

USAF Captain Thomas Mantell died when his F-51 Mustang disintegrated at 30,000 ft while pursuing a large, metallic, stationary object over Fort Knox. Godman Field tower personnel and multiple pilots observed the object. Project Sign classified the incident SECRET. No official explanation has been accepted.
