The Rendlesham Forest incidents over three nights are the UK's most significant UAP case. Colonel Halt's famous memo to the MOD and his personal audio recordings made during the events are in the official record. Physical landing marks were measured. Nuclear weapons were stored at the adjacent base.
Over three nights from December 26–28, 1980, personnel from the US 81st Tactical Fighter Wing at RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge — two US NATO bases storing tactical nuclear weapons — encountered multiple UAP events in Rendlesham Forest adjacent to the base perimeter. On the first night, Security Police patrolling the perimeter encountered a triangular craft that had landed. Physical landing marks including depressions, burned areas, and elevated radiation readings were measured and recorded. On the third night, Deputy Base Commander Lieutenant Colonel Charles Halt personally led a team into the forest with a portable recorder, creating one of the most remarkable live-encounter audio records in UAP history. The craft appeared to shoot beams of light into the weapons storage area. Colonel Halt subsequently filed an official memorandum to the UK Ministry of Defence. Approximately 80 USAF personnel across the three nights witnessed the events. The MOD investigated but its classified assessment was never publicly released in full. The proximity to nuclear weapons made the encounter extremely sensitive under both US and UK classification protocols.

A massive triangular craft wave swept across central England including over RAF Cosford and RAF Shawbury. RAF police and a meteorological officer filed official reports. The MOD's UFO desk officer Nick Pope called it 'the most significant British UFO case for years.'
The Belgian Air Force's most dramatic scramble involved two F-16s achieving radar lock on a triangular craft nine times — each time the craft performed evasive maneuvers reducing its speed from 280 mph to 20 mph in a second. The general of the Belgian Air Force held a public press conference confirming the event.
