Royal Moroccan Air Force Encounter 1980

On May 28, 1980, a Royal Moroccan Air Force Northrop F-5 Freedom Fighter pilot scrambled from Sidi Slimane Air Base and directed toward the Agadir area encountered a disc-shaped object performing extreme maneuvers over the Moroccan Atlantic coast at 25,000 feet. The F-5 pilot made radar contact and achieved a brief lock before the object jammed the aircraft's radar completely. The object performed maneuvers exceeding the F-5's capability before departing at extreme speed over the Atlantic. Agadir civilian radar confirmed the contact. The Royal Moroccan Air Force produced a detailed incident report. Morocco, as a NATO partner nation and holder of a long-standing US defense cooperation agreement, shared the report through NATO's Mediterranean partner intelligence channels.
