AT A GLANCE

The Mexican Civil Protection Agency's permanent monitoring webcam on Popocatépetl captured video footage of a large cigar-shaped or cylindrical object flying into the active volcano's crater. The footage was authenticated by the Mexican government agency. The object appeared to enter the volcanic vent. The webcam is a permanent government monitoring installation; the footage was released through official channels.

DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

Popocatépetl, one of Mexico's most active volcanoes near Mexico City, is monitored 24 hours a day by the Mexican Centro Nacional de Prevención de Desastres (CENAPRED) civil protection agency using a network of webcams and seismic sensors. On October 25, 2012, CENAPRED's webcam captured clear footage of a large elongated object — estimated at several hundred meters in length based on comparison with the volcano's known dimensions — flying at high speed directly into the active crater of the volcano. The object appeared to enter the volcanic vent without slowing. The footage was reviewed by CENAPRED operators and subsequently released through official Mexican government media channels. The video was broadcast on Televisa, Mexico's main national broadcaster. CENAPRED officials confirmed the footage was genuine monitoring camera output. The incident was later revisited with additional webcam footage from 2013 and subsequent years showing similar objects near the crater. The recurring nature of the events and the permanent government monitoring infrastructure that captured them make the Popocatépetl cases among the most instrumentally documented volcanic UAP incidents in the world. The volcano has been a persistent site of unusual aerial observations since the 1990s.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS
  • Captured by CENAPRED permanent government civil protection webcam — authentic monitoring footage
  • CENAPRED officials confirmed footage genuine — released through official Mexican government channels
  • Broadcast on Televisa national television with government confirmation
  • Object estimated several hundred meters based on comparison with volcano's known dimensions
  • Appears to enter active volcanic crater — possible transmedium behavior in extreme environment
  • Recurring events documented by same government monitoring infrastructure across multiple years

Chiles-Whitted Eastern Airlines Rocket Object

Montgomery, Alabama, USA

Two experienced Eastern Airlines captains reported a cigar-shaped, double-decked object with a blazing exhaust that passed within 700 feet of their DC-3 at 700 mph over Montgomery, Alabama. Project Sign analysts concluded it was the 'most credible' UAP report of 1948 and drafted a classified estimate attributing it to extraterrestrial origin.

Aguadilla Puerto Rico — Transmedium Entry/Exit

Aguadilla, Puerto Rico

U.S. Customs and Border Protection thermal infrared footage recorded a pinkish orb flying at ~80 mph at low altitude near Aguadilla Airport before entering the Atlantic Ocean without a splash, transiting underwater at estimated 90+ mph, and re-emerging from the ocean. AARO independently analyzed the footage and confirmed no conventional explanation.
