AT A GLANCE

An unidentified disc hovered over Fort Bragg — home of the 82nd Airborne and Special Forces — at extremely low altitude for 20 minutes. Military Police units attempted to intercept by vehicle. Soldiers' electronic equipment failed during the overflight. The post commander filed a classified report.

DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

On November 3, 1980, Fort Bragg, North Carolina — home of the 82nd Airborne Division, US Army Special Forces, and Delta Force — experienced a close-range UAP intrusion. An unidentified disc-shaped object was observed by soldiers at extremely low altitude, estimated at 200 feet, performing a sustained hover over the installation's most restricted areas housing special operations forces. Military Police units in vehicles attempted to intercept or position themselves beneath the craft but reported complete failure of their vehicle radio systems and personal communications. Individual soldiers also reported compass failures and watch malfunction during the overflight. The craft illuminated the ground with a bright white beam. The post commander convened an emergency response and subsequently filed a classified report under JANAP-146 protocols. The timing — just weeks after the incidents at Kirtland AFB and the same year as the Rendlesham Forest events in England — added to a pattern of Special Operations and sensitive facility intrusions that AATIP researchers subsequently documented.

Hanscom AFB Electronic Warfare Test 1975

Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts

A disc-shaped craft hovered over Hanscom AFB's classified Electronic Systems Division for 40 minutes. EW technicians monitoring classified frequencies detected significant jamming emanations from the object. The craft disappeared vertically at the moment scrambled interceptors from Otis AFB reached visual range.

Edwards AFB — Test Pilots and Tower Report Disc

Edwards Air Force Base, California, USA

Edwards AFB control tower controllers and multiple F-104 Starfighter test pilots observed a metallic disc maneuvering over the base at high altitude. The object was tracked visually by tower personnel and by pilots in flight. Project Blue Book investigated and logged the case as 'unidentified.' The encounter is notable for occurring at the USAF's primary aircraft test facility with multiple trained military aviators as witnesses.

Minot AFB — B-52 Radar and Visual UAP Encounter

Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, USA

A B-52H crew and ground radar simultaneously tracked an unidentified object over Minot AFB's nuclear missile field. The object descended to 200 feet, disrupted radio communications, and was observed by base security near missile launch facilities. Project Blue Book closed the case as 'insufficient data' — later declassified Blue Book files show the radar returns were confirmed as real targets.
