AT A GLANCE

In February 2023, during the same week the US military shot down multiple unidentified objects over North America, Chinese state media reported that PLAAF was tracking an unidentified flying object over Wuhan. Chinese authorities ordered preparations to shoot it down. The simultaneous global UAP shootdown/tracking events in the same week across multiple nations drew significant international intelligence attention. The coordination coincidence remains unexplained.

DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

In February 2023, while the US military was shooting down multiple unidentified objects over North American airspace (including the Chinese spy balloon and three additional unidentified objects), Chinese state media reported that Chinese civil aviation authorities had instructed flights to avoid the Wuhan airspace area due to an unidentified flying object being tracked by the People's Liberation Army Air Force. Chinese authorities prepared to shoot down the object. The near-simultaneous occurrence of unidentified object incidents across the United States and China in the same week — February 2023 — drew significant international intelligence community attention. The coordination coincidence and the apparent global increase in tracked unidentified aerial objects prompted intelligence community assessments. The Wuhan object was eventually tracked out of controlled airspace without a shootdown. The simultaneous US and Chinese unidentified object tracking events in the same week remain one of the most geopolitically significant UAP-adjacent events in recent history.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS
  • Simultaneous with US shootdowns — same week February 2023
  • Chinese state media reported — extraordinary transparency
  • PLAAF tracked and prepared to shoot down
  • Wuhan — COVID origin city, strategic sensitivity
  • International intelligence community assessed simultaneous global pattern
  • Most geopolitically significant UAP-adjacent week in recent history

Russian Air Defence Chelyabinsk UAP Reports 2013

Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia

In the hours before and after the famous Chelyabinsk meteor on February 15, 2013, Russian air defense reported multiple unidentified contacts in the Chelyabinsk Oblast airspace that were distinct from the meteor. Russian Air Defence Forces and civilian witnesses in the region had been reporting anomalous lights for the preceding 48 hours. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and Russian Air Defence officially investigated the pre-meteor anomalous contacts.

Japan JSDF Radar UAP Detections — Parliamentary Disclosure

Japanese territorial airspace (multiple sectors)

In April 2023, the Japanese government disclosed to its Parliament (the Diet) that the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) had recorded multiple unidentified aerial objects detected by radar that could not be identified as any known aircraft or drone. The disclosure followed a formal parliamentary inquiry. Japan's Ministry of Defense established new UAP reporting protocols in 2020 and the 2023 disclosure represented the first formal parliamentary acknowledgment of operational UAP detections.
