AT A GLANCE

The Cape Girardeau incident is one of the alleged pre-Roswell crash recovery cases. Reverend William Huffman reportedly witnessed a crashed craft and non-human occupants and was asked to pray over the bodies. His family members testified to his account decades later. FBI records referencing 'three discs recovered' in the Midwest were later cited in connection with 1940s crash recovery allegations. The case is unverified but has been investigated by multiple researchers using FOIA requests.

DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

In April 1941, Reverend William Huffman of Red Star Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, allegedly received an emergency call to go to a crash site outside the city to pray over victims. Upon arrival, Huffman reportedly observed a damaged disc-shaped craft approximately 35 feet in diameter that had crashed in a wooded area. He allegedly saw three non-human bodies approximately 4 feet tall with large heads, being held by US Army personnel. Huffman reportedly prayed over the remains. He was told to keep the incident confidential. Huffman died in 1959, but his family — his wife and daughter — later testified to his account in the 1980s and 1990s. His granddaughter Charlette Mann provided detailed testimony to researchers. FBI records from the post-WWII era referencing recovered 'flying discs' have been connected to this type of incident by researchers, though no specific Cape Girardeau document has been identified. The case has been investigated through FOIA requests to the FBI and National Archives without definitive documentary corroboration. The Cape Girardeau incident — if accurate — would predate Roswell by six years and represents one of the most significant alleged crash recovery reports from the pre-Roswell era.

Socorro, New Mexico — Lonnie Zamora Landing

Socorro, New Mexico, USA

Socorro police officer Lonnie Zamora observed a white oval craft with red insignia resting on legs in an arroyo, attended by two figures in white. He observed the craft take off with a roaring flame, become silent after 20 feet, and depart at high speed. Physical evidence — burned vegetation, soil compression, metal scrapings — was immediately confirmed by State Police and Army investigators. Project Blue Book listed this as 'unknown.'
