AT A GLANCE

RCMP Constable JL Charlton observed and pursued a metallic disc performing maneuvers in the Hamilton Ontario area, experiencing radio communications interference during the pursuit. Hamilton Airport tower tracked the contact. The RCMP filed an official report. The US FBI received a copy due to proximity to the US-Canada border and cross-border visibility of the craft. The case appears in both RCMP and FBI files.

DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

On March 6, 1975, RCMP Constable JL Charlton was on patrol in the Hamilton, Ontario area when he observed a metallic disc at low altitude. He followed the craft in his patrol vehicle, transmitting observations to his dispatch. During the pursuit, Charlton experienced intermittent radio communications failures. Hamilton Airport tower reported an unidentified radar return coinciding with Charlton's position reports. Multiple civilian witnesses observed the craft as it moved over the Hamilton area. The RCMP filed a formal incident report through Ontario provincial channels. Given the craft's movements near the US-Canada border in the Lake Ontario area, the US FBI's Buffalo field office received a copy of the RCMP report. The case appears in both the RCMP's officially filed records and in the FBI's UAP collection, making it one of the few cases with simultaneous Canadian-American law enforcement documentation.
