Westall High School — 200 Student and Teacher Witnesses 1966

On April 6, 1966, at approximately 11am, students and teachers at Westall High School and the adjacent Westall State School in suburban Melbourne observed a silver-grey disc descend and appear to land briefly in the grassy paddock behind the school. More than 200 students witnessed the event from the school grounds. Numerous students ran toward the paddock and observed the craft at close range before it ascended at high speed, leaving a circular flattened area in the grass. Multiple witnesses described additional smaller craft in the sky. After the craft departed, uniformed men — whose agency affiliation witnesses could not definitively identify — arrived at the school and spoke to the principal and teachers. Students reported that film cameras were confiscated and that teachers were instructed to tell students they had seen nothing unusual. Several teachers who corroborated the sighting reported professional pressure in the aftermath. The case was not formally investigated by Australian authorities and received minimal media coverage at the time despite over 200 witnesses. Researchers who began collecting witness testimonies decades later found remarkable consistency across dozens of accounts from people who had not been in contact with each other.
