AT A GLANCE

Lavender farmer Maurice Masse observed a disc-shaped craft on his field with two small occupants. After his approach, one entity pointed a device at him causing temporary paralysis. The French Gendarmerie formally investigated, documenting ground traces including a concrete-hard depression where the craft landed, elevated calcium in the soil, and permanent damage to the lavender crop at the contact point.

DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

On July 1, 1965, lavender farmer Maurice Masse was working at dawn on his property near Valensole, France when he observed a craft the size and shape of a Dauphine automobile resting on six leg-like struts in his lavender field. Two small humanoid entities (about 4 feet tall, with large heads and small mouths) stood nearby. Masse approached silently, believing they were boys stealing lavender. When he was approximately 20 feet away, one entity pointed a tube-shaped device at him; Masse became paralyzed and could not move for approximately 20 minutes. The craft then rose vertically with a whistling sound and disappeared. The French Gendarmerie (national police) responded and conducted a formal investigation lasting several weeks. Officers documented a hardened cylindrical depression in the soil at the landing site approximately 18 inches wide, 12 inches deep. Soil analysis found elevated calcium content and compressed soil structure consistent with extreme weight. The lavender crop at the exact contact point failed to grow for ten years. Masse was interviewed multiple times over years; his account remained consistent. The CNES (French space agency) later included the Valensole case in the founding dataset for its GEPAN/GEIPAN official UAP investigation office established in 1977. Gendarmerie files were declassified and transferred to GEIPAN archives.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS
  • French Gendarmerie documented concrete-hard soil depression 18" wide, 12" deep at landing site
  • Soil analysis: elevated calcium content, compressed structure — physical landing evidence
  • Lavender crop failed at exact contact point for ten years following the incident
  • Witness maintained consistent account under multiple Gendarmerie interviews over decades
  • Case included in founding dataset for French government GEPAN/GEIPAN UAP office (est. 1977)
  • Gendarmerie files transferred to official GEIPAN archives — among most physically documented European UAP cases

Trans-en-Provence — Physical Trace Landing, France

Trans-en-Provence, Var, France

A retired engineer observed a disc-shaped object land in his terraced garden in southern France. Physical trace evidence collected by French national police (Gendarmerie) was subsequently analyzed by GEPAN — the French government's official UAP investigation body — and found to include ground compression, scorched vegetation, and unusual biochemical changes in plant matter at the landing site. GEPAN's 1983 report remains one of the most rigorous official government UAP physical evidence analyses ever published.

Voronezh UAP Landing — TASS Official Wire Service Report

Voronezh, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union

The Soviet state news agency TASS issued an official wire report confirming a UAP landing in a Voronezh park, witnessed by approximately 30 people including children. Soviet militia and a scientific team investigated and documented physical ground traces — a 6-metre diameter circle of flattened grass and three landing depressions. The TASS report was reproduced internationally. Soviet scientists confirmed the site showed elevated radiation.

L'Amarante UAP — French Gendarmerie Physical Evidence Case

L'Amarante, near Cergy-Pontoise, France

French engineer Renato Niccolai observed a disc-shaped craft land on his property. The French government's GEPAN office (official UAP investigation body within CNES) formally investigated the landing site. GEPAN's analysis found physical changes in the soil and vegetation at the landing site that could not be explained by natural causes — the most technically rigorous physical evidence analysis in the official French UAP record.
