AT A GLANCE

Thousands of residents of Bonnybridge and the Falkirk area of Scotland reported encounters with triangular and other shaped craft between 1992 and 1994. Falkirk District Councillor Billy Buchanan led a delegation to the Scottish Office and subsequently to Downing Street demanding official investigation. Scotland's Parliament received formal petitions. The Bonnybridge Triangle wave is the UK's most politically active community response to a UAP wave.

DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

Starting in December 1992 and continuing through 1994, the small Scottish town of Bonnybridge in Falkirk District began reporting an unprecedented volume of UAP encounters. Thousands of residents over two years reported encounters with triangular craft, orbs, and large structured craft at low altitude. Falkirk District Councillor Billy Buchanan, who himself witnessed a craft, organized a community response that escalated to formal political action. Buchanan led a delegation to the Scottish Office seeking an official investigation. When that produced no action, he organized a further delegation to Downing Street to request the Prime Minister's attention. The Scottish Parliament subsequently received formal petitions about the Bonnybridge encounters. British Ministry of Defence files on Bonnybridge were later partially released and showed the MoD had received over 100 formal reports from the area. The case is unique for the organized political pressure it generated from elected officials in response to constituent UAP concerns.
