AT A GLANCE

A large acorn-shaped metallic object with a raised band of unknown symbols around its base crashed into woods near Kecksburg, Pennsylvania. The Army cordoned off the area within hours and reportedly recovered a large object on a flatbed truck. NASA reopened the case in 2003 following a lawsuit and could not produce the original investigation file.

DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

On the evening of December 9, 1965, a fireball trailing blue smoke was observed across six U.S. states and Ontario, Canada. Ground witnesses near Kecksburg, Pennsylvania, reported a large object falling into the woods and observed a bronze/gold-colored acorn-shaped object approximately the size of a Volkswagen Beetle resting in the woods, with a raised band of writing around its base described as resembling Egyptian hieroglyphics. The U.S. Army arrived within hours, cordoned off the area, and witnesses reported a large object being loaded onto a flatbed truck under military escort. The official response was that a meteorite had been investigated and nothing found. In 2003, NASA historian Leslie Kean filed a Freedom of Information lawsuit seeking the original investigation files. NASA was unable to produce the files and stated the original records had been lost. NASA subsequently re-examined the case using recovered documentation and concluded the object was most likely a Soviet Kosmos 96 space probe, but orbital mechanics experts disputed that the probe's trajectory was consistent with the observed fireball path.

Pascagoula River Encounter — Jackson County Sheriff Audio

Pascagoula River, Mississippi, USA

Shipyard workers Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker reported being taken aboard an oval craft along the Pascagoula River. Jackson County Sheriff Fred Diamond secretly recorded the pair when left alone in an interrogation room; they continued their accounts believing they were unobserved. USAF Project Blue Book had closed in 1969 but Navy Intelligence reviewed the case. Medical examinations found no signs of deception.

Loch Raven Dam UAP — USAF Electromagnetic Effects Investigation

Loch Raven Dam, Baltimore County, Maryland, USA

Two engineers observed a large egg-shaped object hovering silently over the Loch Raven Dam bridge. Their vehicle engine and lights failed during the approach. Upon the object's departure in a flash of white light, both men experienced sunburn-like symptoms and were examined by physicians. The USAF 438th Air Intelligence Service Squadron formally investigated and the case was classified 'Unknown' in Project Blue Book.

Socorro Landing — USAF Project Blue Book Physical Evidence Report

Socorro, New Mexico, USA

Patrolman Lonnie Zamora observed a white egg-shaped craft land in the Socorro desert, observed two small figures near it, and watched it depart vertically. The physical evidence — four circular landing impressions, burned brush at four locations, and a rock with blue flame residue — was documented by USAF Project Blue Book investigators. Dr. J. Allen Hynek considered it his single best case. The landing impressions were formally measured and preserved. Classified CIA and USAF documents reference this case specifically.
