Japan JMSDF Sendai UAP Post-Earthquake 2011

On March 18, 2011, one week after the devastating 9.0-magnitude Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force P-3C Orion aircraft conducting aerial disaster assessment sorties over the Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures reported luminous orbs conducting maneuvers near the tsunami devastation zone and, of particular concern, in proximity to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, which was in the midst of its catastrophic reactor meltdowns. US Navy vessels and helicopter crews participating in Operation Tomodachi disaster relief also independently observed the same objects. The JMSDF filed classified reports through the Japan Maritime Staff Office. The US Navy reports went through Pacific Fleet command. The proximity to the Fukushima nuclear event, combined with the pattern of historical UAP appearances at nuclear facilities during crises, drew significant classified intelligence attention. The encounters occurred in the most extensive joint US-Japan military operation in years.
