DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

On November 7, 2004, Iranian Air Defense Command detected multiple unidentified high-speed objects over Tehran airspace and in the vicinity of Iran's nuclear facilities including Natanz and Bushehr. The four-hour event involved multiple separate contacts behaving in ways inconsistent with any known aircraft — descending from 80,000 feet to 10,000 feet instantaneously, performing tight formation maneuvers, and reacting to Iranian radar tracking attempts. Iranian Air Force F-14A Tomcat crews were scrambled multiple times but reported weapons system failures when achieving radar lock. Iranian Air Defense official General Aziz Nasirzadeh subsequently stated that the objects had demonstrated performance characteristics far beyond any known aircraft and had interfered with Iranian radar systems. US NSA and NRO assets monitoring Iranian nuclear activity detected the incident and filed classified intelligence reports. The episode became part of the classified intelligence picture that AATIP researchers drew upon when documenting global UAP incidents near nuclear programs.

Gulf War UAP Reports — USCENTCOM Operational Records

Kuwait, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia theater of operations

During Operation Desert Storm, US and Coalition combat aircrews filed multiple reports of unidentified objects in the operational theater. USCENTCOM records, partially declassified, document objects that appeared on radar but did not match the transponder signatures of any Coalition aircraft. Several fighter pilots reported intercept attempts. The objects performed maneuvers that exceeded the capabilities of any known aircraft in the theater.

MQ-9 Reaper Donut-Shaped UAP — Middle East 2023

Middle East — USAF MQ-9 operational area

A USAF MQ-9 Reaper drone operating in the Middle East captured FLIR footage of a donut or torus-shaped metallic object hovering at altitude in 2023. The footage was included in AARO briefing materials and was among the cases presented to congressional oversight staff. The object appeared to have a hole through its center and metallic surface properties visible on infrared imaging.

USS Theodore Roosevelt Persian Gulf 2014

Persian Gulf, USS Theodore Roosevelt operating area

During combat operations over Iraq and Syria, F/A-18 Super Hornet pilots from USS Theodore Roosevelt began encountering small spherical objects in their operating airspace over the Persian Gulf. These encounters preceded the better-known 2015 Atlantic incidents and were the beginning of a two-year pattern.
