AT A GLANCE

Amateur geologist Stefan Michalak suffered radiation burns, a grid-pattern chest injury, and subsequent radiation sickness after approaching a landed disc that discharged hot gas through a ventilation grid. Canadian authorities, RCMP, RCAF, and the US military all investigated. Physical evidence at the landing site was confirmed radioactive. Considered Canada's most documented physical UAP case.

DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

On May 20, 1967, amateur geologist Stefan Michalak was prospecting near Falcon Lake, Manitoba, when he encountered two disc-shaped craft. One landed, and Michalak approached to within arm's length, attempting to communicate. When the craft departed, it discharged a burst of hot gas through a ventilation grid on its underside, striking Michalak in the chest and setting his clothing on fire. The encounter left him with a distinctive grid-pattern burn across his chest, nausea, vomiting, and weight loss consistent with radiation exposure. Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Royal Canadian Air Force, the Canadian Department of National Defence, and the United States Air Force all conducted investigations at the landing site. Soil samples from the site showed elevated radioactivity. Silver fragments found at the site showed evidence of unusual refining processes. Michalak's injuries were medically documented by Canadian health authorities. The case is catalogued by RCMP files, National Defence files, and remains Canada's most extensively investigated physical contact case.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS

Socorro, New Mexico — Lonnie Zamora Landing

Socorro, New Mexico, USA

Socorro police officer Lonnie Zamora observed a white oval craft with red insignia resting on legs in an arroyo, attended by two figures in white. He observed the craft take off with a roaring flame, become silent after 20 feet, and depart at high speed. Physical evidence — burned vegetation, soil compression, metal scrapings — was immediately confirmed by State Police and Army investigators. Project Blue Book listed this as 'unknown.'

Gulf Breeze Florida Ed Walters Photographs 1987

Gulf Breeze, Santa Rosa County, Florida

Ed Walters captured a series of photographs of low-altitude disc-shaped craft in Gulf Breeze Florida over several weeks in 1987-1988. Local police officers, neighbors, and MUFON investigators independently corroborated sightings. The photographs were analyzed by Ground Saucer Watch and NASA image specialists. The Gulf Breeze case generated significant controversy and media coverage, with the Pensacola Naval Air Station nearby providing an unusual military aviation context.
