AT A GLANCE

Travis Air Force Base, a major USAF airlift and tanker base, experienced a UAP incursion in November 1975 as part of the documented wave of SAC and USAF base incursions that month. A disc hovered over the flight line and fuel storage areas. Base security was fully activated. Sacramento ARTCC tracked an unknown contact coincident with the base reports. The Travis incursion is part of the documented November 1975 US military base incursion series.

DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

On November 28, 1975, Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California experienced a UAP incursion as part of the documented series of unidentified craft overflights of US military installations that occurred throughout November 1975 at multiple USAF and SAC bases. A disc-shaped craft was observed hovering over the Travis flight line and fuel storage areas. Base security police were mobilized to full alert. The base commander was notified. Sacramento Air Route Traffic Control Center received radar data on an unknown contact in the Travis airspace coincident with the security reports. Travis AFB, as a major Air Mobility Command base supporting worldwide airlift operations including strategic resupply, was considered a high-value installation. The November 1975 wave of base incursions — including Malmstrom, Wurtsmith, and Travis — was ultimately the subject of a formal inquiry to the Joint Chiefs of Staff from SAC commanders who were concerned about the pattern of incursions over their most sensitive facilities.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS
  • Part of November 1975 multi-base incursion wave — Malmstrom + Wurtsmith + Travis
  • Disc hovered over flight line and fuel storage — operational areas
  • Base security fully mobilized
  • Sacramento ARTCC radar confirmation
  • SAC commanders submitted formal inquiry to JCS about wave pattern
  • Travis — major Air Mobility Command strategic airlift base

Minot AFB — B-52 Radar and Visual UAP Encounter

Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, USA

A B-52H crew and ground radar simultaneously tracked an unidentified object over Minot AFB's nuclear missile field. The object descended to 200 feet, disrupted radio communications, and was observed by base security near missile launch facilities. Project Blue Book closed the case as 'insufficient data' — later declassified Blue Book files show the radar returns were confirmed as real targets.

Nellis AFB Radar-Visual — Classified Test Range UAP

Nellis Air Force Base Test Range, Nevada, USA

Multiple tracking cameras and radar at the classified Nellis Test Range in Nevada recorded a white disc-shaped object performing extreme maneuvers over a period of approximately 30 minutes. The footage was obtained via a source and broadcast by a television network in 1995. USAF Nellis Range control confirmed the incident occurred and that the object was unidentified. The footage shows the object abruptly changing direction and speed in ways inconsistent with any known aircraft.
