AT A GLANCE

Multiple UAP contacts were tracked by the USS Omaha Carrier Strike Group during July 4th independence holiday operations. Spherical objects swarmed ship formations and one was tracked diving into the ocean. P-8 Poseidon crews were tasked with submarine search of the descent area.

DECLASSIFIED DETAILS

On July 4, 2019, multiple unidentified spherical objects were observed and tracked by personnel of the USS Omaha Carrier Strike Group conducting operations in the Pacific Ocean west of San Diego. The incident lasted approximately two hours and involved multiple simultaneous contacts swarming the formation. One spherical object was tracked by shipboard cameras descending from 21,000 feet to sea surface and entering the water at high speed — classic transmedium behavior. A USS Omaha Watch Officer footage, later confirmed authentic by the Pentagon in 2021, shows a spherical object at close range on FLIR. US Navy P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft were tasked to search the descent area for submarine debris or anomalous subsurface contacts — no conventional submarine or USO was identified. The multi-ship, multi-sensor documentation of this event — occurring on the same day as the Independence holiday — made it one of the most thoroughly documented transmedium UAP events in the public archive record set.

KEY CHARACTERISTICS

USS Omaha — Transmedium Sphere Entry 2019

Pacific Ocean, off San Diego, California, USA

USS Omaha combat information center footage captured a spherical object hovering over the ship and entering the ocean without a splash. The Navy sent a submarine to search for wreckage and found nothing. The declassified footage was released by the DoD in 2021 as part of the first official UAP video release and is among the cases referenced in the 2021 UAP Task Force preliminary assessment.
