AARO Historical Record Disclosure 2023

In November 2023, the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office published its first Historical Record report to the Senate Armed Services and Intelligence Committees, covering UAP encounters documented in government records from 1945 through mid-2023. AARO Director Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick presented findings that for the first time officially acknowledged the existence of cases where UAP demonstrated apparent capabilities beyond known US technology and confirmed that hundreds of cases in the database had no identified explanation. The report reviewed classified and unclassified records across DoD, Intelligence Community, and civilian agency files. It confirmed the existence of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) and its successor programs. While the report stopped short of endorsing any particular explanation, it documented the pattern of nuclear facility associations, the transmedium behavior, and the sensor defeat capabilities that researchers had long identified in the classified record. The report represented the most significant official compilation of historical US government UAP documentation ever made available, even in classified form, to Congressional oversight.
